Daffodils coloring the fields, buds on the branches, the fauna coming out, children with ants in their legs... It's spring! We want to enjoy the April sun and the breeze full of new smells, to breathe a little, to enjoy the family... Welcome to the Sancy !
Ancient volcanic region, the Massif Central offers very characteristic landscapes, suitable for many activities in spring. Different hikes are proposed according to the snow cover present in spring: more than 650 km of marked trails that will allow young and old to discover volcanoes, crater lakes and dams (high altitude lakes formed by a lava flow), waterfalls and high altitude plateaus coiled among the puys. To hike safely, mid-mountain guides will accompany you to discover the fauna and flora of the season, your best chance of spotting a chamois or a mouflon with binoculars!
You can also use the mobile application "Sancy EXPLORER" in which are listed the emblematic hikes of the massif, in order to hike at your own pace and independently.
And if you prefer cycling to hiking, get out your mountain bike! Some of the hiking trails can be done by bike but the more sporty ones will appreciate discovering the Sancy landscapes by riding the different routes of the VTT-FFC area on their own or with a qualified mountain guide (mountain bike routes also available on Sancy Explorer).
After all these efforts, go and meet the star of the Sancy : the Saint-Nectaire AOP cheese. Just after milking the cows, early in the morning and at the end of the day, local producers welcome you to the farm to show you how Saint-Nectaire cheese is made, often followed by a tasting of the delicious cheese with its nutty taste.
