Try new experiences in an exceptional setting
So Much To Do in the Mountains In Spring
The weather’s good, the sky’s blue...spring’s the perfect season to enjoy the mountains. With plenty of sunny days and warmer temperatures, it’s the best time to try new activities, alongside your skiing! With a thousand and one sports, a magnificent setting and views to take your breath away...spring in the mountains means waves of pure pleasure.
100% Adrenaline
Ski resorts in spring have loads of options to satisfy adrenaline junkies. Snowscooting, luges on rails, zip lines, mountaineering, Yooner (a combination of sledding and skiing that really gets your heart pumping), freestyle courses and paragliding...there is no shortage of ways to test your threshold for fun!
Whether you want thrills or simply to challenge yourself, the mountain in spring is an extraordinary playground for anyone who wants to break free from the ordinary! If you’re still in ski mode, why not try your hand at ski touring on the many beautiful routes available. Or take advantage of the melting snow and try a whitewater adventure: rafting, kayaking or hydrospeed.
The Trinity: Cycling, Hiking, Trail running
When spring comes, the cols are cleared of snow, and the keenest cyclists start to get excited about being back on two wheels! It’s time to get back in the saddle and tackle mythical passes of the Tour de France such as the Tourmalet or the Col de la Loze between Méribel and Courchevel.
Or maybe it’s an outing on your mountain bike you’re looking forward to, taking to newly cleared trails through newly blooming forests, or maybe try one of the many resort bike parks, such as Les Angles in the Pyrenees or Le Lioran.
In Les 2 Alpes, you can even mix skiing and mountain biking at the Snow2Bike event from 16-24 April 2022. How does this unique downhill race work? First up, you ski to the resort, then it’s on to the bike for the ride down to to the finish in Venosc!
For a calmer and more mindful option, why not go into cyclotouriste mode on one of the many picturesque country routes, for example either through the Jura Mountains or in the Vosges.
This is also the time of year to start trail running or hiking again, in a verdant setting. In Praz de Lys Sommand, there are nine permanent routes around the most beautiful trails in the area.
